Job Description - Senior Unified Communications Engineer

Summary
This position provides both engineering pre-sales and technical leadership to PBM’s Unified Communications practice. PBM’s UC practice, based primarily on Cisco’s Unified Communications product suite, is focused on planning, designing, implementing, and managing VOIP and other converged communications solutions for our clients.

Required Technical and Work Experience

  • 8+ years hands on experience planning, designing, and implementing Cisco’s UC product line, including Unified Communications Manager, Communications Manager Express, Unity, Unity Express, Unity Connection, Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), Unified Presence Server and Communicator, and MeetingPlace Express.
  • Experience designing and implementing complex, multisite voice deployments
  • Expertise using Cisco tools to develop a project Bill of Materials, including proper software licensing, is required
  • Expertise with communications protocols such as H323 / SIP / MGCP / SCCP
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired Technical and Work Experience

  • Expertise with related vendor technologies, such as AdTran and Tandberg
  • Expertise integrating Cisco solutions with other vendor products such as overhead paging systems
  • Experience with Unified Contact Center Enterprise
  • Contact Center scripting experience
  • Consulting experience is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience with a technology vendor or systems integrator selling, designing, and implementing Cisco voice systems and solutions

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary sales engineer for PBM’s Unified Communications practice
  • Work with sales team to develop opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Lead technical sessions with clients to discover requirements and develop solutions
  • Prepare project proposals including Bill of Materials, Engineering Professional Services Estimate, and Statement of Work
  • Present solutions to clients
  • Participate as a “hands-on” engineer on project deployments
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Maintain and develop relationships with clients and vendor partners such as Cisco
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies
  • Maintain technical certifications as required

Education/Certifications

  • CCVP certification required
  • CCIE voice preferred
  • Four-year degree preferred
  • Hands-on experience required
